Swimming is a great way to stay healthy and fit. It’s not only a form of exercise, but it’s also a relaxing activity that can help relieve stress and boost your energy levels. In addition, it can be beneficial for your overall health, lowering your risk of heart disease and diabetes, and even helping you sleep better! So if you’re looking for some time to unwind, why not head over to one of HK’s many fantastic pools?
Whether you’re an avid swimmer or just looking to cool off on a hot day, Hong Kong’s pools are sure to have something for everyone. From hotel pools with stunning views to private ones in residential complexes and members’ clubs, there are plenty of choices when it comes to getting your swim on in the city!
While the sweltering temperatures might make you want to stay under a blanket and binge-watch your favourite series, there’s nothing like a nice swim to re-energize your body and mind. In fact, just three times a week can reduce your stress and improve depression, according to researchers. Plus, it’s a great way to get some fresh air and have fun at the same time!
If you’re looking for a pool with some serious wow factor, check out the gorgeous infinity pool at Four Seasons, overlooking Victoria Harbour. The hotel even pipes in some underwater music (which can be quite surreal or just a bit annoying, depending on your taste). The pool is exclusive to guests only, but it’s well worth the trip for a swim with a view.
The indoor swimming pool at Ma On Shan is another highlight, with its massive water complex and views of Tolo Harbour. There’s a main pool with spectator stands that can hold up to 1,200 people, as well as a few smaller training and teaching pools for kids and adults. And don’t miss the two giant waterslides, which are said to be Hong Kong’s fastest!
Another great option is Kowloon Park’s public pool, which has a lovely outdoor leisure pool complete with waterfalls and rocks. There are also a diving pool and teaching pool for adults, and the whole place is heated during the winter months.
Of course, if you’re not staying at the hotel and just want to enjoy a dip, you can visit any of the 22 public pools operated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. And on weekdays, it’s only HK$17 per person to enter! Kids and seniors are charged at a reduced rate, while full-time students can swim for free. And remember to bring your Octopus card, as most of these pools accept payment via this convenient method!
